It took a playoff for So Yeon Ryu to win her first LPGA title at the 2011 U.S. Women’s Open. But she made sure there would be no such close call with her second career victory. Ryu fired a career-low, 9-under 62 in Sunday’s final round to capture a six-shot win over Angela Stanforda at the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic Presented by Kroger, Owens Corning and O-I. Ryu finished at 19-under-par for the event following rounds of 67-68-67-62 on the par-71 Highland Meadows Golf Club. The 22-year-old LPGA Tour rookie entered the day tied for the lead with three of her fellow South Koreans – Jiyai Shin, Hee Kyung Seo and I.K. Kim. But it didn’t take long for Ryu to sprint out ahead of the pack. She birdied two of her first five holes and then strung together six straight birdies from No. 9-14 to run away from the field. Ryu, who has eight top-10 finishes now this season, earned a $195,000 first-place check with her victory. Since she was a non-member at the time of her victory at the 2011 U.S. Women’s Open, she also becomes the fifth Rolex First-Time Winner of the 2012 season. She joins Jessica Korda, Azahara Munoz, Shanshan Feng and Brittany Lang as the other Rolex First-Time Winners this season.)

The record-tying: So Yeon Ryu shot 62 to win the LPGA Farr by seven strokes over Angela Stanford,
tying the LPGA Tour record for lowest final round by a winner.
And Ryu is in some pretty great company.
Here are the four legends with whom Ryu now shares this record
(and the tournament where each shot 62 in the final round to win):
Four legends, four Hall-of-Famers. And now Ryu.
Koreans always did well in this tournament.

And...
Rory McIlroy Wins 2012 PGA Championship By Record 8 Strokes.
He was good making Birdie at the last 18th hole.
He's from Northern Ireland, as you might know, and 23 yrs. old.
In the midst of olympic and PGA major, it is hard to follow LPGA even sport-crazy guy like me.
Traditionally LPGA Korean player started play well once hitting the summer
and this year was not exceptional.
Following Na yeon Choi's US Open and Inbee Park's Evian, Rookie of the year
candidate, So Yeon Ryu won Jamie Farr Classic convincingly. She is approaching
one foot closer to coveted Rookie of the year.
Seri Pak used to be dominant player at this tournament and I believe they named
one of street after Seri Pak's and now Seri kids are trying to follow her foot steps.
Congratulation! So Yeon! KJ
