Randy Pausch, a computer-science professor who became internationally known for his inspiring "Last Lecture," passed away in Chesapeake, Virginia, Friday after losing a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 47. Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch (Oct. 23, 1960 - July 25, 2008) gave his last lecture at the university Sept. 18, 2007, before a packed McConomy Auditorium. 석주님, Thank you very much for a few good video shots.
The first one was good but the story went on somewhat too long.
This was when he was told first time that he was going to die soon.
This is what you would say at your own funeral,
if you happen to know that you are about to die.
The second video was short and wonderful, 8 month later when he got his death sentence.
....You can not beat the reaper (the devil, bounty hunter of your life) by living longer.
But you can beat him by living well and fuller....
...find your passion and follow it...
...the passion that fills you from inside.....
Yes, "fill from inside", not from outside that most of us try to do.
The last video was very good too, sort of the summary of all.
이한중님, I found that he was also a person
who keeps his life as a part of the universe just like you.
Maybe after a while, soon or later, we all learn to live as a part of the universe.

운영자님,
Thank you for your kind comment !!
There are many more quotes from Randy Pausch's Last Lecture but
the quotes below are my favorites.
My favourite quotes from Randy Pausch's Last Lecture
I probably got more from that dream and not accomplishing it than I got from any of the ones that
I did accomplish.
Experience is what you get when you didn’t get what you wanted.
The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to
show how badly we want something.
Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough.
Loyalty is a two way street.
You can’t get there alone. People have to help you and I do believe in karma.
I believe in paybacks. You get people to help you by telling the truth. Being earnest.
I’ll take an earnest person over a hip person every day,
because hip is short term. Earnest is long term.
Never underestimate the importance of having fun. I'm dying and I'm having fun.
And I'm going to keep having fun every day because there's no other way to play it.
Find the best in everybody. Just keep waiting no matter how long it takes. No one is all evil.
Everybody has a good side, just keep waiting, it will come out.
It’s not about how to achieve your dreams. It’s about how to lead your life.
If you lead your life the right way, the karma will take care of itself.
The dreams will come to you.

석주님;
Thanks for picking up some more thoughts of his that I failed to mention or pick up.
1. Talking about the "brick walls", we, lovers of the Internet and websites,
know how many brick walls we have hit (or run) into before we got here.
Oh, man, as a guy who never had even an hour's lesson in computer science,
I have run into so many brick walls and there was even a single soul around me to ask.
But, one by one, they fell to their knees in front of me and I walked over.
I know there are still a lot of brick walls on my path ahead.
But, as Randy Pausch said and believed, I believe I will overcome them if I want it "badly enough".
2. Strange... a guy like Randy Pausch...believed in "karma".
Maybe I can understand him, a dying person, to think that the karma would take care of itself.
"If you lead your life the right way, the karma will take care of itself.
The dreams will come to you."
I like to believe what he said. And one step further,
even if the dream won't come to me, and/but if I know it's the will of the karma
that takes care of itself, I will have nothing to complain about.
Here, the meaning of "If you lead your life the right way" is not easy to decipher,
but it simply means, to me, "If you honestly do as best as you can".

eventuality in the middle of the prime of his life. He died a couple of days ago, and his death made a
headline in national news.
My specialty, Cardiology, has made me deal with death perhaps more often than any other
for some four decades. I always find the true character of a person when he or she is faced with the Reaper.
I must report that it is rare, indeed, to observe a man or woman of this kind of courage.
I can practically count or name those I've observed in my career, and they number less than a dozen.
One of them was almost identical to Randy's case, in age, family situation, being a university professor, etc.
I also still remember one elderly lady who was admitted to CCU and was experiencing intractable recurrent ventricular fibrillations requiring DC shocks every 1 to 3 hours. After some 10 DC shocks, she told me that dying this way(of oventricular fibrillation) is not bad and asked me to let her go next time she develops VF, which she did. When she finally developed the VF, I let her know in front of family members.
She had the most beautiful smile on her face like that of Buddha. As she passed out and died in
the next few minutes, her face was fixed in the last smiling face. It was some 30 years ago,
but the impression is still vivid.
