South Korea jails former president Lee for 15 years on bribery and other charges

A Seoul court on Friday jailed former South Korean President Lee Myung-bak for 15 years, making him the latest in a string of high-profile political and business leaders ensnared by corruption charges.
Lee is the fourth former South Korean president to be jailed, with his successor Park Geun-hye imprisoned over a separate graft scandal that toppled her from power in early 2017 and fed concern over cozy ties between government and business.
Lee faced charges of having accepted around $10 million in illegal funds from companies such as conglomerate Samsung and his own intelligence service, but he denied any wrongdoing, saying the investigation was politically motivated. (Reporting by Joyce Lee; Editing by Clarence Fernandez) |

Conservatives believe in the free market. In order to run the free market
and have the country prosperous, it has to be a fair market. Foul play must not
be allowed. That’s why people want conservatives run the government.
Corruption brought down Chosun dynasty. Chosun was not invaded by evil-minded Japan
but made herself palatable to Japan by corruption. It is the worst
enemy of any nation on earth.

At one point, I was naive enough to say to everyone I knew that Presidents Lee and Park
were the cleanest and most conscientious presidents Korea ever had.
Listen to what they once said during the busy days of Presidential campaigns:
Lee: I will donate all my wealth and assets to our country, and live only on my salary.
Park: I am single and sensible(Ha, Ha, Ha). I have no family, no children and so on.
Only you, Korean people are my everything, I will work for you, only for you.
My dear friends, how can I distrust these two tongue-swinging geniuses?
I say I wasn't betrayed since I haven't had voting rights but just disappointed badly.

Doc, very sorry that you got disappointed badly. Just let us LOL to the sky !! ㅎ, ㅎ, ㅎ.
The secret of not getting old faster is "not getting disappointed" and keep your mind happy.
However, we can not really control these people who try to disappoint us by all means.
So, what we can do is "not to expect too much" on them.
Then, they can not disappoint us.
Another choice would be, like me in my webpage above, to have a fun on their demise.
Those seem to be the only choices we have.
One time, I had a big hope for him but he didn't do much except trying to get rich for himself.
He had not only betrayed the good people of South Korea but eventually,
indirectly allowed the communists' factions to prosper even further.
Unfortunately, he turned out to be nothing but a money-hungry rat and a petty thief.
Some of you may not agree with me but......
I consider that this is, for a change, a good movement for the South Korean government.
They may be politically biased but it's a good bias. MB deserves every day of the 15 years.
I hope Moon does not let him get away from serving the full sentence.
Doing so will continue the ever-lasting bad cycle of continuing corruptions.
Can we ever get away with the corruptions?
Is it so much worthwhile and desirable to get rich? Just amazing how stupid a guy can be?
Didn't he know almost every ex-president of Korea got caught in the end?
Why was he so eager to follow their foot-steps again?
Didn't he know he would get caught eventually and would be in this "glamorous" march toward the prison?
Actually, he should be heading to the death chamber. He's not worth to be fed by the Korean tax money.
Please give him a round of applause with a lot of claps. That's what he wanted so badly.
