One of the large logeswhere we spent two days was EcoAmazon Lodge, 30 km
down the Amazone river which can be reached by a small boat.

3 days two night $240-320 in 2004 price.

우리가 2 일 묵은 EcoAmazon Lodge 로 비행기서 네려 30 km 를 배를 타고 네려갔다.

This lodge has a big botanical garden where they collected many medicinal and
edible plants, where we toured one afternoon. A large area was devoted for jungle
hiking to show many trees and plants.

It is difficult to see many animals other than foot prints on the mud during day time except several species of birds. One evening we went out to see crocodiles in the
river with flash light. Next afternoon we went out to a small island to see monkeys
in the wild. They came when our guide called them offering bananas. they were still fearful of humen.

We went out for fishing, Pirana, but we caught only two cat fish.

이곳은 식물원도있고, 몇시간 걸리는 숲속으로의 산책 길도 만들어놧다.

하루 오후에는 이 강의 물고기인 피라나 낙시질을 나갓는데, 메기만 두마리 잡고, 조그만 섬으로 야생 원숭이를 보러갔다.

안내원이 이상한 소리를 내서, 원숭이들을 불러, 접근하면, 바나나를 준다.




여기 밀림 에 산책을 아침에 나갔는데, 장화로 바구어 신고, 컴컴한 나루아래로 3 시간쯤 걸어갔다. 열대림에는 큰 나무도 많고 비슷해 보이지만 용도가 다른 모양.

어뜬 나무는 때리면 큰 북소리가 나서, 교신나무라고 하고, 지방 사람이 그나무를 때리면 북소리가 나서, 연락용으로 썻다고 한다.

커다란 늪앞에 높은 관망대가있고 원하는 사람은 배를 타고 늪을 돌면서, 악어 새끼를 구경한다.


Jungle hiking takes several hours. We changed our shoes to rubber boots.
A guide explained about large trees, numerous species of plants, ants, frogs, etc.
and how local people used them for daily living.

One tree is called "Justice tree" as it houses special poisonous ants which kill slowly
the condemned prisoner tied to the tree.

A communication tree makes special drum sound when beaten, therefore, local
people used this tree beating for long distance commuication

Another tree had many black spines, stong like steel, which were used as arrow
heads by the locals. I collected a few of them for my organic stainless wood tooth pick which will never be rusty. I misplaced my tooth brush and did not have tooth
brush in this jugle lodge.
This spine served as a better tooth brush for two days.

I realized later this spine was a favored gift item at home, and I regreted for not
having collected more of these tree spines, as I can never find them in
San Francisco.

This jungle still provide many medicinal plants for researchers and has provided
evertyhing human being needed for many thousands years.

In 2012, the jugle provides yet another new item: an organic stainless tooth pick,
which will be recorded in my diary.

어떤 나무는 불개미 집이 많이 생겨, 재판소 나무라고하고, 죄인을 거기 묶어두면, 개미가 물어 독으로 금방 사형이 집행된다고 한다.

어떤 나무는 가시가 손고락만 한데, 쇠 같이 단단하고, 원주민이 화살 촉으로 썻다는데,
나는 그 가시 대여섯개 따왓다. 만년 이빨 쑤시개로 쓸참이다. 집사람이 무엇에 쓰려는지 한개달라고 해서 선물로 진상햇다. 얘기를 잘못 알아듯고 치솔을 다른 가방에다두고와, 치솔이 없이 여기 정글 로지에서 이틀 살앗는데, 이 가시를 치솔대신 유용하게썻다.

이 열대림은 수만년 동안 인간이 필요한 모든것을 공급해주엇고, 지금도 약용식물 탐색에 중요한 구실을 한다고 한다. 칫솔이 없는 칼리포니아 사람한테, 이 쑤시개를 공급햇으니, 역사에 기록될이다.

Indiginous people along the Amazon basin. 아마존강유역 원주민 문제.

I asked our guide what the government does for those local indiginous people in
the jungle. I did not get a clear answer. He told me government gives used clothes
to them and do not force them to get into the main stream culture, including
compulsory education as long as they live just as they lived for thousands of years.

The reality may be that there is no road to those local villages and they may not like intrusion by ousiders. This is the quotation from an intereet site.

"There are at least 50 groups that still don't have regular contact with the outsides and keep away from them. The Brazilian government policy towards these groups is to leave them alone, as they wish. Not very much is known about these groups as they keep going deeper and deeper into the forest as the outsiders get closer to where they live.

To stop the constant migration of tribes it has been suggested that an Indigenous Protected Area be setup so they can stop running away into the most remote places of the forest."

이 강이 브라질, 페루 볼리비아를 거쳐가는데, 길도 없는 수많은 지역에 흐터져, 현대문명 사회를 등지고 사는 원주민에 대해서는 꼭 필요하지 않는한, 그들의 전통적인 생활양식을 거드리지 않는 모양이드군요, 그들은 의식주를 밀림 속에서 전통적으로 해결하고 있는 모양. 정부에서 헌옷을 전해 줏다고 가이드가 얘기 해 줍디다.

Lastly, I am showing this skull. which was on the muddy road in the jungle, belonging to our evolutionary cousin that lived here with human being for several hundred thousands years.

When the earth was covered with thick jungle like this place, human life may not have been much difffrent from the other moving creatures in the forest, just like in many indiginous human society in the jungle.


마지막으로, 여기에 밀림 길가에 방치되어잇는 인간의 진화과정에서,
인간과 분리되어간 원숭이의 해골을 기재하는데, 지구가 다 아마존 밀림같이 열대 식물로 덮혀있던 시절에는 인간의 생활 양태가, 다른 직립 영장류 동물과 크게 다르지는
않앗을 것이라고 생각해보았다.

This is the hightest place I climbed up. Machu Picchu hill is seen below.
Sun light is coming to Machu Picchu throught a stone gate here.
About 45 minutes climbing. I was a bit nervous about my ability to climb up here as I saw only young people around me. This is about 10,000 feet above the sea.

이곳에 약 45 분 걸려 올라가는데, 주위에는 젊은 학생들 뿐이드군요.

은근히 숨이차서 들것에 눕혀 하산하는 사고가 않생길찌, 겁이 낫는데, 다행이 올라갓다 네려왓고, 옆에 젊은 사람이 우겨서 네려올때는 가방을 한청년이 지고 네려왓지요.ck
