Exercise is another major element that raises HDL.
That's why it is one of my obsessions.
I always try to walk the 18 holes carrying my bag,
and, at the finish, I feel like I have done something good for myself.
As some of you, doctors, may know, we do a lot of good things for someone else
but we seldom do what are good for ourselves.
The natural question is
"What raises the HDL cholesterol ?"
Firstly, much of HDL level is determined by genes which we receive from our parents.
Secondly, aerobic exercises raise it.
Thirdly, statins or drugs raise it.
Fourthly, moderate alcohol intake, two drinks for men and one drink for women, raises it.
