Senior Discounts
As I was waiting in line behind an older gentleman at Wendy's recently, I heard him ask for his senior discount. The girl at the register apologized and charged him less. When I asked the man what the discount was, he told me that seniors over age 55 gets 10% off everything on the menu, every day.
Being of 'that' age myself, I figured I might as well ask for the discount too.
This incident prompted me to do some research, and I came across a list of restaurants, supermarkets, department stores, travel deals and other types of offers giving various discounts with different age requirements. I was actually surprised to see how many there are and how some of them start at the young age of 50.
This list may not only be useful for you, but for your friends and family, too.
Dunkin Donuts gives free coffee to people over 55. If you're paying for a cup every day, you might want to start getting it for free.

Many years ago, I was in line waiting for MacDonald hamburger.
An old woman in front of me turned around and ask me if I am a senior.
She told me if I asked I would get a discount in hamburgers and French fries.
So, she did and I also did... and we got the discounts. I was amazed. There, nobody knew I was a doctor.
This was the beginning of the discounting career of mine as a senior citizen.
I am not sure if they still give discount on hamburgers and fries.
In the retirement community I am in, we usually have dinners in a restaurant and then,
we say, "Let's go to 맥다방 (=MacDonald) and have coffee on the way home."
At somewhere 50-60 cents a cup, MacDonalds is a favorite place for our meeting at any time of the day.
We always say, "맥다방에서 만납시다. I will buy the coffee."
To me, the most remarkable discount of all is the National Park Pass.
At the gate, show your driver's license and ask for the "life time pass for seniors" (=Golden Eagle Pass)
You can have it at $10, less than one time entrance fee. Once you get it, you can use it forever.
People in your car is also free if you are with them.
Finally, we are getting the benefit for the taxes we had paid.
We all should have a AARP membership. It's so cheap and can recoup the cost very quickly.
The AARP cards are as powerful as AAA cards or better.
