My wife and I have lived in Detroit northern suburb for half a century, and since two years ago, we've been living 6 months of the winter in San Juan Capistrano, the southern part of the Orange County, Southern CA.
One of the first things my wife noticed, who is checking on dusts dutifully everyday wherever we stay, is that the dust particles
are different from those of Michigan in that they are black or blackish in color.
We inferred they may have originated from all the cars in I-5 which crosses across less than a mile from us.
I was surprised to see that. My wife purchased an air purifier which was put in our master bed room.
Subsequently we eliminated much of that dust. We bought a second one to cover the entire living space.
My next door neighbor, a man near 80 with COPD and asthma, I found out, has two air purifiers for his condo.
Californians certainly have problems with air and water, indeed.
