(An Inconvenient Truth Strange Prophecy...)
Years ago, Al Gore produced the documentary about global warming;
An Inconvenient truth. I saw it and I was surprised to find out CO2
emitted during industrial revolution still in the atmosphere.
CO2 has been artificially produced since humans used fire to cook and
keep themselves warm. All leaving creatures, including humans, animals
insects, etc. breath out CO2. Plants consumes it, but when it dies and decay,
CO2 comes out to atmosphere. Burning fossil fuel accelerated it tremendously.
I think it is almost impossible to rein in use of fossil fuel because humans want
to live better than what they are continuously. Our civilization has to come up
with something to replace fossil fuel, that is not carbon. Otherwise, every nation
on earth will dig the ground to get fossil fuels until it becomes too expensive to
burn it because so little left in the ground to meet the demand.
I can't help feel ashamed and guilty as well, as part of the old generation,
which has been contributing relentlessly to global warming.
We humans basically are such shortsighted animals in spite of the advanced
civilization and technology that our leaders cannot nurture the necessary
political will to do the right things on the long-term consequences of Mother Earth health.
I can see the anger and the frustration of this 15-year-old girl.
