I was informed today of a case in ICU setting where the treating physician
strongly suspected Covid-19 yet two consecutive swab tests were negative
so the physician got the sputum specimen from bronchoscopy which came back
positive, raising the question of reliability of the nasal swab test in some patients.
In other word, out of these 91 patients reported at least some of the negative tests
may well be false negatives instead of reinfection.

It is known that once the virus moves down to the bronchi,
there is no more virus in the nasal cavity.
So, if the timing is not right or late, a nasal swab can be negative.
In Korea recovery is defined by two negative tests for the virus 24 hours apart.
91 such recovered patients tested positive again raising serious concern
about immunity and several other possibilities other than reinfection.
God forbid they are reinfections. If they are, it will be a terrible setback in our war against the virus.
There is so much unknown about this virus.
It seems clear that Korea remains a reliable, credible source of new scientific information
in this ongoing worldwide effort learning everything about this coronavirus.
