Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday!
That is your 80th!
All is quiet.
All is unreal.
All is virtual
Whatever it means.
All my children and grandchildren,
All twelve of us are virtual on the Zoom screen
Perhaps except me and my wife besides me,
And perhaps the special birthday cake my wife bought on line
and the birthday balloon, a bouquet and 80 Prov1 golf balls
my daughter sent me and I'm looking at.
No, there is no difference, virtual or real.
Virtual is real. Real is virtual.
Like light is particle and wave.
Like life is living and dying.
Like life before and after this Pandemic.
No, there is no difference, virtual or real.
Birthday is birthday!
Celebration for life is real truth regardless!
Celebration for love and family is real truth regardless!
In the middle of Pandemic, confusion, chaos and
deaths all around me,
On the 80th birthday of mine
I really need to wake up to find out
what all these disturbances are about.
O, God help me!

Happy belated 80th Birthday! My friend!
I am not that far from you to get there.
We are getting into the last chapter of our lives and
let's make it 'the Golden era of our lives'! KJ

Thank you, buddy, KJ.
hope you will have real, not virtual, BD party with children and grandchildren.
We may have to celebrate my 80th BD again
after we survive this Pandemic, said my wife.

Congratulations, my friend. Welcome aboard to join to the Octogenarian Club! You no longer belong to the septuagenarian!
I am sure you will start to have a different feeling on the 'aging' slowly as an octogenarian from now on especially on a long (?) term plan.
BB Lee, to become an 82 this Fall.

Thank you, Professor, and
congratulations to you making it two years ahead of me this Nov.
You are making me huff and puff in trying to keep up with you.

Doc, Congratulations !
That's a long way from birth, over the hills, rivers, and oceans.
2020.07.30 21:47
Thank you, WM.
Indeed I feel that way. A long way from where I was born, and the same for you and all our friends for that matter.
Nontheless all of us, I believe, feel perfectly at home where we are with our better halves,
and that's what counts, all of us would agree.
By the way, as I recall, your 80th is in August so that in case I miss, I want to congratulate you too
for the special occasion.

Mine comes in early September of 2020.
Not like the mundane 60s and 70s, waiting for possibly the last decade of mine,
I am quietly excited about it.
It's a kind of emotional milestone to encounter and greet my 80th birthday away from my home.
Whoever thought I would be at this point in my life?
However, I guess I will consider where I am as my fateful home away home.
Anyway, looking forward to the day, I am glad and happy whatever and wherever I am now.
Possibly due to the coronavirus restriction, I am not planning a big noisy celebration of any kind.
I've been planning to have a quiet moment of walking slowly up, high above Colorado,
to a ridge toward a summit that I've never stepped on before.
At my age, the first time without the obsession of reaching the summit,
it will be a blessing that I can put myself just there on the summit ridge at least for a moment.
A lot of disruptive things will be happening around me in the coming autumn,
but I hope I would be allowed to have the chance one more time.

I celebrated my 80th birthday a couple of weeks ago, and
the weird feeling I experienced then still lingers, which
I tried to capture here impromptu.
The feeling I got by celebrating virtually on the screen
gave me an emotional confusion in my reaction,
best compared to the confusion of my intelligence when
faced with Einstein's relativity theory and others.
