A few years ago, I read an article about many foreign doctors including Americans

coming to 아산병원 to learn the surgical techniques about cancer surgery including 

partial liver transplant from living family donor after hepatectomy for cancer which

was started by a Korean surgeon whose name I forgot.

I was thoroughly impressed then, so the above news is no surprise to me.

아마 아산병원은 그 규모면에서 세계에서 가장 큰 병원일 것이다. 

수술실의 규모는 상상을 초월 한다. 예를 들면 정형외과가 사용하는

 수술방 수가 왠만한 종합병원 전체 수술당 수와 맛먹을 것이다. 

암치료 분야에서 미국 병원을 제외 하면 세계 제일이라니 놀라운 

사실이다. 모교 서울 대학병원은 야러면에서 삼성 병원에도 뒤지고 있다. 일류

병에 걸려 태만해 진것이 아닌지 우려 된다. 

Not only the SNU hospital, but also the SNU Medical College suffered the "underserving "일류병".

On our website, I uploaded an article about the graduates of SNU Medical College was the "꼴찌"

in entire Korea in the ranking of passage rate in the national medical license examination.

I do not know how their passage rate is now.

It is indeed a special privilege to hear from one of very few pioneers the detailed history of

the beginning of the transplant surgery program and the two great medical institutions in S. Korea 

along with complicated personal relationships and politics in medicine.

It is quite a story you are sharing with us, and I thank you for that.

What is the most important is the result of everyone's effort, I believe.

And for that matter congratulations are in order for you for your priceless contribution 

to the outcome of your dedicated efforts at the very beginning.

SNUMC selects the best in the country, but professors

are not the best in the country and abroad. The school

and the hospital often resort to nepotism. It's door is 

shut for American-trained SNUMC graduates who want

to teach in the school. Not to mention non-SNUMC graduates.

Their advancement is not on merit, but the year of graduation.

I do not know it is the same as before. If it is, their future is doomed.
