골프 스타 필 미켈슨이 끝없이 추락하고 있다. 지난해 PGA 챔피언십에서 최고령 우승을 기록하면서 제2의 전성기를 맞는가 했는데 예상 밖의 급격한 몰락이다.
사우디가 주도하는 슈퍼골프리그가 원인이다. 미켈슨은 2019년부터 사우디가 여는 대회에 적극적으로 참가하다 슈퍼골프리그를 출범하겠다고 한 올해 본격적으로 지원사격을 했다.

옛부터 '셋치의 혀'가 문제이다.PGA 선수들의 보상문제는 특히 LPGA 선수들에 비해 충분하고도 남는다고 생각한다.물론 PGA에는 한세대에 한번쯤 나올 Tiger Woods의 등장으로 전세계적으로골프 붐을 조성하여 대기업에서 충분히 스폰서쉽을 받아 현재의 호황을 누리고 있지만서도.PGA선수들도 직업선수라서 재정적인 면이 우선이라고 이해는 할수있으나 골프에대한열정과 거기에서 오는 자존감등을 떠나 금전만능주의를 지향하는것은 일반 골프팬들을등지게 하는 큰 원인이 될수있다는것을 인지 했으면 한다.

Norman has sought to challenge the PGA Tour for decades. In the mid-1990s he led the charge to create a so-called World Golf Tour that would offer huge paydays to the world's best players. The idea was quashed by then-PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem, and Norman was also shut out of the planning process for the World Golf Championships, which were largely seen as a response to Norman's cause.
*As much as it was the fight between PGA and Greg Norma in the 1990s, it is that of PGA
and Phil Michaelson. It is nothing to do with Saudi's moral stands. At the end of the day,
the one who has stronger sponsorship will decide the outcome. Money talks always!
It seems to me that the structure of LPGA does not look fair. So many Asian players are
playing in LPGA, but the governing body is in the USA and no one is challenging it.
I think it is because of sponsorship. It is a fight between the American economy and World's economy.
