Yes, it was "The Shot"!
It started a series of unstoppable avalanche of LPGA victories to follow thereafter.
A new history of Korean Ladies invincible dominance of the U.S. LPGA.
I was in my retirement in Colorado then.
I happened to turn the TV on to watch the entire last game with a beating heart.
The ball happened to have hung on a steep edge of a lake and she got it out successfully.
Not in the game of golf, but, in my life, I have been through such a crisis and survived as well.
It is a mile marker in one's life. I guess I know well what "The Shot" means to all of us.
I just wish that her life went on all the way as happily as it should have been.
The Shot, A bare foot shot from water and win of 1998 US Open
by Seri Pak is one of the most memorable shots in LPGA history. That
win by a Korean Rookie has been inspired many many Asian female
golfers, mostly Korean players and triggered booming in Korean
golf especially dominance of LPGA by Korean players. Her win also
made many IMF-plagued Koreans some confidences. This US open is
25 year anniversary from that great event! Let's celebrate this
great event together!
