Why did the Korean War become the "Forgotten War"?
"Forgotten War"

What is History?
According to Prufrock
T.S. Eliot
After such knowledge, what forgiveness? Think now
History has many cunning passages, contrived corridors
And issues, deceives with whispering ambitions,
Guides us by vanities. Think now
She gives when our attention is distracted
And what she gives, gives with such supple confusions
That the giving famishes the craving. Gives too late
What's not believed in, or if still believed,
In memory only, reconsidered passion. Gives too soon
Into weak hands, what's thought can be dispensed with
Till the refusal propagates a fear. Think
Neither fear nor courage saves us. Unnatural vices
Are fathered by our heroism. Virtues
Are forced upon us by our impudent crimes.
These tears are shaken from the wrath-bearing tree.

When does an event become history?
All these events were nearly 20 years ago, and they reflect a personal perspective
and a particular society, but in general, it takes about a generation (20 years)
after an event before the source-base and perspective make ‘history’
with any lasting value possible. On the other hand, I understand it can be hard to wait
that long: just now I’m reading The Gamble by Thomas Ricks (Penguin, 2009),
a ‘history’ of events that occurred a year or two ago in Iraq."

<"Forgotten War"

"Forgotten War"
Korean War is about to be a forgotten war because:
1. I was an 11-year-old boy then, and I remember almost everything.
My sister was 6 years younger than me and she doesn't remember even a thing about it
even though she went through all the pains and sorrows of the war.
Of course, my parents remember every detail of the war but they are not with us anymore.
My elder sister and bother remember the war but they are either gone or about to go.
That means when I die, there will be no one left who can remember the war.
So, it will be forgotten as there will be no brains alive that can remember the war.
2. South Korea has become so rich and developed that who bothers to remember the war now?
3. Now, there are no traces of the war left in Korea except for some monuments, movies, and stories.
The real war is no longer there anymore. All about it is just a story and nothing else.
In a matter of a few years, the Korean War will be forgotten in vivo. That's it.
I hope the stories may remain in our future.
The history of the Korean War should not be forgotten.
