I finally read through such a grand summary of Korean history after Yi Dynasty, Dr. Ohn.
By all means, it is NOT a brunch book as you humbly offered! I enjoyed every chapter thoroughly and besides, I am very happy to confirm most of my vague understanding of Korean 근대사 (?) in particular is correct.
I wish to send my wholehearted congratulations, first! What a job!!!!
Indeed, I am so impressed with your enormous efforts/investment to collect this much confusing information to deliver such a clear review, only the person with a unique background of the physician-like profession with methodical analysis could achieve.
However, I am amused with your Conclusion with a tone to defending (?) 문재인, from being accused as 빨갱이 by almost all of Korean acquaintances I know of. Though I have not much idea about this guy as well as the definition of 빨갱이 these days- indeed, I couldn’t care less! -, certainly, he looks like leading the country in the wrong direction, kowtowing to China!
Who knows, as many Koreans worry, the leftists would eventually bring/give away South Korea as the gift to Kim’s dynasty, the one and only communist country in the whole world with such a monarchy system, God forbids!!
So, the history goes on!!!

Not too long, but not too short overview, especially on such complicated interrelationship among 김구, 여운형, 김규식, 송진우, 장덕수, 안재홍, etc!
It was a perfect opportunity/information for me to refresh my half-baked knowledge to organize the bird's eye view of my own on Korean 근대사 with no further confusion. Now I could join the conversation with some confidence, thanking you.
I bet the people would love to read with no pressure if you would publish in a paperback.

P.S. BTW, isn't Dr. 김유홍 ('61), retired anesthesiologist at Greeley, CO one of 김규식 박사's family/grandson? My memories are getting rotten helplessly in these days but I believe he is! He went to Korea to Samsung Hospital with us to help Dr. 신백효 to organize the anesthesia department.
Thank you for your compliment, Dr. Lee. I appreciate your effort to read from
page one to the end. Actually, my original plan was to include Korean War under
same subject, but Brunch eBook does not allow publishing such a large volume.
I may make another book titled 한국전쟁.
As far as 문재인 is concerned, I can not say more than what I described in the book.
Fortunately, arguments about the progressives are communists and the conservatives
are Japanese collaborators have become a nonissue in current South Korean politics.
