One of the things that I gave serious thoughts but have not done yet is driving from US
through British Columbia, Yukon Territory, Alaska, Fairbank, Dalton Hghway,
and then to wet my feet at the shore of the Arctic Ocean.
(the approach to the ocean is not allowed unless one buys a group tour)
We will have to bring our own SUV (to be free at our own) and camping equipments.
I feel like I am running out of time. Possibly June of 2015 could be the last chance.
I can not hope to see everything but that will take care of the North America for me.
Good news is that the Canada-Alaskan Highway is almost all paved now.
Dalton Highway, Dead Horse, and Prudhoe Bay of Alaska: The highway begins just north of Fairbanks in Interior Alaska and ends at Deadhorse. It is Alaska’s most remote and challenging road, with little in the way of highway services. The road is mostly gravel, and motorists need to watch for ruts, rocks, dust in dry weather, potholes in wet weather and trucks and road maintenance equipment at all times. If you choose to drive it, however, you will be rewarded for your troubles by several exciting sites along the way, including crossing the Yukon River, the Arctic Circle (one of the best photo opportunities in the state is standing next to the sign that marks the Arctic Circle along the Dalton Highway), the ruggedly beautiful Atigun Pass in the Brooks Range, Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. |
Thanks for beautiful pictures! 규정
