Arts The Creative Art of LEGO/Exhibition at CMA

Think Outside the Brick: The Creative Art of LEGO®, the first show presented by CMA’s Center for Creativity, features exhibitions and programs that demonstrate the tremendous creative capacity of LEGO®. Creativity isn’t exclusive. It’s for everyone. Think Outside the Brick illustrates that all of us have innovative ideas worth pursuing. Think Outside the Brick show features: In Pieces: New Work by Nathan Sawaya and Dean West; works in varying media from artists from Columbus and across the country by AFOL (Adult Fans of LEGO); Lego Columbus: Central Ohio LEGO Train Club presents Columbus recreated in LEGO® bricks (including OSU Stadium, the Ohio Statehouse, and downtown Columbus); and Let’s Go LEGO® Community Competition Finalists. This exhibition will be open until January 29, 2013 at the Columbus Museum of Art, Ohio.          |

시카고에도 LEGOLAND 라는 곳이있는데
LEGO로 참 희한한 조각들을 다 만들어 놓고 상설전시 하지요.
가끔 손주들을 데리고 가는데 거기서 LEGO를 팔기도 하고
LEGO를 산더미같이 쌓놓고 어린이들이 마음대로 갖고 놀게도 하지요.
어린이뿐 아니라 어른들도 가지고 노는 장난감이 되었읍니다. -

요즈음 국민학교 학생들에게 창의력을 키우기 위하여
Out of Box, Critical Thinking을 교육과정에서 치중합니다.
미술관에 관람오는 학생들에게도 미술작품 감상을 통한
Critical Thinking ability를 양성하려고 노력합니다.
이러한 새로운 교육지침을 학생들에게 전수하려니까
Museum에서 봉사하는 Docent들이 새로운 도전에 애를 먹습니다.
이번 레고 전시회도 상업용으로 만들어 낸 여러 종류의 Kit를 떠나서
자유 자재의 상상력으로 레고 블럭을 이용하여 창작을 해 보라는 것이지요.
기발한 작품들에 감탄하고 이에 응모하는 열성들이 또한 감동을 주는데
가족단위로도 응모하게 하여 좋은 Community activity라고 생각합니다. -

손자 만나러 갔더니 LEGO Holiday 2012 Catalog 41 page 에 숭례문 (남대문) 만드는
Lego 가 소개되어 있더군요.
한국인이 아니고 미국 건축가 Adam Reed 라는 사람이 디자인 한 모양 입니다.
이래 저래 요즘 한국이 널리 알려 지는 것 같아 기분은 좋습니다.Recreate a piece of Korean history with the majestic Sungnyemun!Presenting one of South Korea's most treasured monuments – Sungnyemun. Also known as the Great Southern Gate, this majestic gateway to the South Korean capital of Seoul is the last remaining of four gateways constructed in the late 14th century to protect the country's capital. In 1962, this impressive Joseon Dynasty monument was declared South Korea's first national treasure, but in 2008 was almost completely destroyed by a fire. Fortunately, a restoration project, due for completion in 2012, will return the South Korean people's coveted treasure to its former glory once again. This LEGO Landmark series interpretation of Sungnyemun was designed by US architect Adam Reed Tucker in collaboration with the LEGO design team.

숭례문 레고 kit는 처음 봅니다.
레고라면 둘째가기 서러운 콜렉터 손자에게
크리스마스 선물로 주문해야 되겠습니다.
레고 랜드라면 손주들이 언제라도 신이 나지요.
쉬카고 레고 랜드에는 아직 가보지 못한 것 같어요.
이제는 kit 아닌 레고로 창작도 해보라고 해야겠습니다.
기발한 작품만들어 특허를 받으면 누가 압니까,
이 큰 소비자 풀에서 한몫할지도, ㅎ ㅎ

손주들이 올때 마다 제일 먼저 달려가 꺼내어 한 방 가운데 벌려놓고
시간가는 줄 모르고 노는 작난감이지요. 이러한 LEGO를
써서 기발한 착상으로 기기 묘묘한 작품을 만드는 LEGO artists들의
작품을 모아 Columbus Museum of Art, Ohio에서 전시회를 하고 있습니다.
LEGO를 좋아하는 성인들, AFOL(Adult Fans Of Lego)의 LEGO에서
inspiration을 받은 painting, sculpture도 함께 전시되고 있습니다.
여러분들에게 보여 드리고 싶어서 몇점 사진을 올립니다.
